Wimbledon originally started as garden party tournament, the first Championship was played way back in 1877 under the control of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Fred Perry was the last British male to win the Championship in 1936, with the first televised tournament starting a year later. Today Wimbledon is probably the most popular and biggest Grand Slam tennis tournament, its the only Grand Slam tournament to still be played on grass. Attended by hundreds of thousands of people and viewed by millions more around the world, Wimbledon lasts for two weeks and normally takes place in June and July, tickets can hard to come by, so i would get your tickets nice and early.
